How to remove color to get back to natural hair color?

Question by denimead: How to remove color to get back to natural hair color?
My hair is naturally drab gray. I just started coloring my hair at home over the last 9 months (after having it professionally done for the last 20 years). I want the end result of my hair color to be golden brown. I do not touch up roots in between hair coloring. I do an overall color. Each time I colored my hair, I chose a color that wasn’t quite light enough. I’m ready for another coloring. My roots are drab gray, the rest of my hair looks like one solid light brown color. Since I have been using different shades of golden brown each time I color, should I use a hair color remover first to get back to my natural color and then do an overall color of a very light golden brown/blonde? Or just color my hair with the very light golden brown. I do not have different colors in my hair now, but mentally I feel like I do because of the 4 different times I’ve colored with a different color. Help!!!

Coloring your hair changes the hair structure so using a hair color remover will NOT return your hair to its natural color. I don’t understand why you aren’t just touching up your roots as needed??? In any case, to lighten your hair you need to get highlights and use bleach-just using another lighter box of color will not lighten it over the existing color. In any case, you should see your stylist. Ask her the color she uses (like 7GB, 6RB) and use a box color for your roots in between salon visits.

So I am loving this.
I went to touch up my hair as per usual, bleaching my roots and colored area then adding more color. Well I got all of my roots done then ran out of blue! Luckily I had some purple so I finished with that and blended the two together. The result is beautiful. You can’t see much of my roots here but they are a bluey-turquoise color and it fades into a nice royal blue/purple. I may do this again!
Yes I know my hair is super messy, it was windy out.

Question by min l: What brand of hair dye will work on black hair and not make it orange?
I recently dyed my hair “golden brown”. It turned out very nice but over time it has faded into an ugly shade of orange.

I don’t want to spend another 70 dollars on getting my hair dyed again so I was considering buying a box of hair dye from a store.

What brands would you consider for a brass-free hair dye that works on black hair?

so im guessing your natural haircolor is black so ur roots are growing out black?
if thats the case u might have to bleach just your roots and then when ur done dye it the color you want all over. bleaching just your roots really isnt that bad since its the healthiest hair on your head since its new hair growth

Question by j3nn1fercaw31n: What would your hair look like if you dyed it a lighter blonde hair color on honey blonde hair?
I have a full head of highlights and I look like a blonde now. My hair is a darker honey blonde but I have multiple colors of blonde highlights in my hair. I would like to go blonder but I’m not sure if dying it blonde is the best case? My roots are darker.
I have natural medium ash brown hair.

Do not dye over your highlights, it will muddy the color making the distinguished highlights blend together or disappear. If you want to be lighter go to a stylist and have them increase either the lightness of the highlights or the amount of highlights you have or both! Putting a solid color over what you have will just leave you with a solid root line as it grows out and you will have to color more frequently to keep that line from being visible.
