Question by newburg_2_fine: Black Hair Color Used by Celebrities?
Ludacriss, Puffy and different rappers have a pratically jet black low cuts that hardly even show some scalp up top. Does anybody know of a black hair color that I can use to get that jet black effect. I am told it even dyes the scalp as well. Please somebody drop some suggestions on me.
By the way don’t say black because I need something to stain the scalp as well. My hair is already black.
I would love some brand names if possible.

Question by You’ll Never Take Me Alive!!: Is there a hair dye that lightens your hair as it dyes it another color?
I like to dye a portion of my hair fun colors like purple, blue, pink, red etc… But I have dark brown hair and it’s a pain to bleach it everytime… Does anyone know a hair dye that lightens dark hair while dying it one of the colors I mentioned above? Thanks!

You are missing the point here. Those “fun colours” you call them, are stains. They are not hair dyes (there really is no such thing). They can only work on bleached hair. The hair needs to have all colour removed for them to show best, and the hair needs to be “opened up” by the bleach so that the stain can get into the hair and last longer. You CAN put them on dark hair, but the dark will still make the hair dark, and it will only sit on the outside, and will be washed off in a shampoo or two.
Sorry, there is no other way than to bleach first and then apply the stains. This has to be done in two applications. There is no one-step bleach and stain.

When you look at a hair color chart or wheel, you will see many different shades. If you are trying to figure out the prefect shade for you, it can sometimes be frustrating. For example, you may love the new shade that your friend is currently sporting, so you might decide to try the same coloring product. However, on you, it may not be so flattering. What looks great on her may seem out of place on you, and this can be from a number of factors. Here are some things to take into consideration, before you make any purchases.
Understanding the Basics
The first thing to know about coloring or dying products, lies within the science of colors. If you have red hair, it might be a completely different shade from someone else. However, it is red because it reflects all colors except red. Yet, it can still reflect many shades of red, and this can create some of the most lovely reddish shades.
It is very important to be careful when you combine colors. For example, you could be a blond, and desire to become a red head. Some shades of blond, blend well with red and may give you a strawberry blond appearance. However, many shades of blond are yellow, and mixing red and yellow produces orange. Also, lighting has a great deal to do with coloring. Your tresses may be a slightly different shade in sunlight, than indoors.
If you are a red head, adding additional colors or dyes is similar to painting on a red wall or canvas. Certain colors will blend in with red, but others will cover it up. This explains what some hairstyles have highlights of other colors, and others do not.
Working with Skin Tones
Another reason why one shade looks good on your friend, and not you, may be skin tone. You may notice that women with darker skin may not look good as a blond, and yet women with light skin may appear very natural. It may be easy to understand this with contrasting colors, but the same effects are there with all colors. Subtle shades may not be as apparent, but they are still noticeable. If you hold your hand up to a coloring chart, it can help you see the differences.
Eye colors can also have an effect on hairstyles. However, it is usually not as dramatic as skin tone. Usually, lighter shades like blue or gray eyes are best with lighter hairstyles, and brunettes and women with darker hair, may look best, if they have darker eyes.
Professional Advice
If you are unsure about the right coloring product to use, ask a professional stylist. Professionals have training and experience in these matters. The money that you spend can be an excellent investment in your appearance.
Conclusion
Perfect hair color does not always come by accident. A friend may look great as a brunette, but it might not be a good look for you. If you study a hair color chart, it may help you understand how some shades blend, while others cover up. This can help you decide what to do. If uncertain, consult a professional.
